Flame Azalea

Flame Azalea [Rhododendron calendulaceum], a member of the Heath (Ericaceae) family, found on a trail at the Folk Art Center. Newcomb’s Wildflower Guide, pages 300-301, which classifies it as a shrub, says that it’s “commonly cultivated” and found in “dry open woods.”
