Common Viper’s Bugloss or Blueweed

Common Viper’s Bugloss or Blueweed [Echium vulgare] found on the Grass Road on Trout Lake in Hermon, New York on 20 June 2013. It’s a member of the Borage (Boraginaceae) family. Newcomb’s Wildflower Guide, pages 50-51, says that it’s an “abundant weed of fields and waste places, usually in limestone regions” and comes out in summer.
