Campbell Road in Hermon, New York, near Trout Lake, on 23 June 2013. Unfortunately, I saw the remains of two other turtles off the road too.  This one was sunning himself in the afternoon.

Newcomb’s Wildflower Guide, pages 308-309, says that it blooms in late spring and early summer. The early blooms are white in color.
